This is a similar story for many photographers. A few years ago you saw an
amazing camera with great lens. Then, a few months ago you went to the
local store and bought the camera of your dreams. The first thing you did
was to take shots of your friends, family (yourself more than you would
like to admit) local landmarks and you have been down to the local park.
But now you are left with an empty feeling. What you really want to do is
go on a real adventure that can test your skills as a photographer and to
test drive that new camera. The organisers of the Kedah International
Photography Awards (KIPA) understand where you are in your life at the
moment.
Kedah has long been known as the rice bowl of the country but there is so
much more to offer the photographers. “The first thing that comes to mind
is the blue sky. There is very little pollution in Kedah so the sky is
really blue, which makes for great shots,” stated Nordin Abdullah, the
Organising Chairman of KIPA.
To assist photographers KIPA has developed several “Photo Trails” from the
mountains, lakes and rivers, marine parks, ancient ruins, historical
sites, beaches, cultural places to the iconic rice fields for
photographers to discover something new.
“There are some amazing destinations in Kedah for photographers and we
noticed that the Kedah state government is making efforts to bring
tourists to mainland Kedah, but when a Google search can only find limited
photos or in some cases you cannot find any photos of some destinations,
it is not easy. On a positive note, the dedicated photo trails will be
easier for photographers to take photos of places in the mainland,”
continued Nordin.
So whether you book your flight on the official airline Firefly or enjoy
the drive, there is no reason to wait. Photographers have a chance to win
some amazing prizes including cash and stays at some of the best resorts
in Asia.
