Bali in those days is kind of like Lombok now where there is only one spot on the main island that can be considered the main tourist strip – Senggigi.
It used to be “party central” of Lombok but it has now been upstaged by Gili Trawangan and its two sister islands on the north-west coast.
You can reach Senggigi by ferry or fast boat from Bali but that can be a vomit-inducing adventure, seriously. You can also fly in from Bali or Malaysia.
But it’s about a two-hour journey to Senggigi from Lombok airport.
