The video, released by Palestinians on Thursday, was recorded after an attack on a busy market a day earlier. It showed many ambulances, photographers and civilians rushing to the site to evacuate the casualties when Israeli military fired more shells into the market.

The attack came during a four-hour ceasefire in Gaza and wounded more than 200 people.

"The first shell hit and people immediately started evacuating the wounded. They [Israeli forces] saw them evacuating the wounded and they struck them[people] again." eyewitness Abu Maysarah said.
Another witness also said that people had rushed to the scene to help fight spreading fires.

"The fire hit one of the shops, and started to spread to ... the [entire] market. We ran to help fight it ... suddenly the cannon shells started to hit all of us while we were rescuing people," he said.
The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas described the attack as a “massacre”, saying in a statement on Facebook that Israel is “committing deliberate acts of mass murder... the blood of innocent people in Gaza will not be shed in vain and the hand of justice will reach all of those who planned and carried out these massacres."

Israel has been pounding the Gaza Strip since July 8. Israeli forces also began a ground offensive against the impoverished Palestinian land on July 17.

More than 1,400 Palestinians have been killed and thousands of others injured by Israel’s offensive. Israeli sources have confirmed the deaths of 56 soldiers. However, Hamas says the toll is much higher.

The Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas, has been launching retaliatory attacks against Israel.
