A MALAYSIAN Airlines passenger plane with 295 people has crashed in Ukraine today killing everyone onboard after reportedly being shot down by Russian authorities.
Flight MH17 was travelling from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur when it was downed, according to the Interfax News Agency.
Anton Gerashchenko, an adviser to Ukraine’s interior minister, posted on Facebook today that everyone onboard MH17 died in the crash.
He wrote: “A civilian airliner travelling from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur has just been shot down by a Buk anti-aircraft system.
“280 passengers and 15 crew have been killed.”

The news agency claimed that the Malaysian Airlines passenger plane was shot down by Russian authorities but that has yet to be confirmed.
A Malaysia Airlines official has confirmed the plane has crashed and they are due to make a statement shortly.
The company also tweeted to say that they lost contact with MH17 after it took off from Amsterdam and its last known location was over Ukrainian airspace.
They posted on Twitter: “Malaysia Airlines has lost contact of MH17 from Amsterdam. The last known position was over Ukrainian airspace. More details to follow.”
Russian state media reported that the country’s defence ministry had labelled accusations they shot down Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 as “absurd”. Express UK

Following reports of the crash of a Malaysian Airlines plane with 295 people on board, Ukraine’s president says his country’s armed forces did not shoot at any airborne targets, according to the Associated Press.
President Petro Poroshenko says Thursday ‘‘we do not exclude that this plane was shot down, and we stress that the Armed Forces of Ukraine did not take action against any airborne targets.’’
Poroshenko said ‘‘we are sure that those who are guilty in this tragedy will be held responsible.’’

Malaysia Airlines mengesahkan pasukannya terputus hubungan dengan pesawat MH17.
“Kedudukan terakhir adalah di ruang udara Ukraine,” kenyataan MAS di Twitter dipetik.
Sementara itu, laporan Reuters yang memetik laporan agensi berita Interfax menyebut, pesawat itu membawa 295 penumpang dan anak kapal dari Amsterdam ke Kuala Lumpur.
Laporan Interfax itu memetik sumber industri penerbangan, yang masih belum dapat disahkan buat masa ini.
Sementara itu, laporan Al-Jazeera menyebut, Malaysia Airlines mengesahkan kejadian itu dan dijangka akan mengeluarkan satu kenyataan tidak lama lagi.
Menurut Al-Jazeera, pesawat terlibat dipercayai pesawat Boeing 777 dengan nombor penerbangan MH17, yang berlepas dari Amsterdam pada jam 2.14 pagi waktu tempatan.
Ia dijangka tiba di Kuala Lumpur pada kira-kira jam 6 pagi.
