KUALA LUMPUR: A 37-year-old Special Branch officer was found shot dead with two bullets to the head in Jalan Seremban, Federal Hill here.

Acting City CID chief Asst Comm Khairi Ahrasa said that a passer-by saw the body lying by the roadside at 4.30pm on Tuesday and contacted the Travers police station.

"When we arrived at the scene, we found the body lying next to two 9mm bullet casings.

"Our investigations revealed that he died on the spot after being shot twice in the head," said ACP Khairi.

He explained that police had yet to ascertain whether the bullet casings belonged to the victim.

"We found no weapon on his body," said ACP Khairi, adding they found no signs of any struggle at the scene.

ACP Khairi said a motorcycle was found parked 1.5m away from where the body was lying.

"Upon close inspection, we found that the motorcycle did not belong to the victim," ACP Khairi told reporters.

He added that police are investigating as to why the lance corporal was in the area at the time of the incident.

"He may have been on duty or was going out for a meal," said ACP Khairi.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

The body was sent to the Universiti Malaya Medical Center for a post-mortem.

ACP Khairi told reporters that the victim was unmarried and lived in Puchong.

"We are not allowed to reveal his name until his family has been informed of the incident," he added. The Star
