MALACCA: Malacca Chief Minister Datuk Idris Haron has urged Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) to clear low voltage power lines from the city for they are ruining its view.

He said the aesthetic value of the Malacca city as a world heritage city would be further enhanced if the power lines were removed in line with its stride to become a green technology city.

"The overhead power lines are ruining the view and the electric poles are posing traffic hazard. "So let us move the electric poles from the city centre first," he told reporters at a thanksgiving reception in his honour following his appointment as Malacca  chief minister hosted by TNB employees here today.

Idris, who once served as Malacca TNB district distribution general manager, also proposed that the TNB public lighting system to be standardised in order to beautify the state so that its brightness would not hurt the eyes.

"This will differentiate us as a developed state from other states through consistency in the public lighting brightness," he added.
