JOHOR BAHRU: The state government will check on Villa Nabila's status before any decision is to be made including demolishing the mansion by local authorities.

Johor's Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khalid Nordin said he will ask the city council (MBJB) to check the 'haunted' mansion's status which is in Jalan Skudai.

"We have to examine everything as the neglected mansion is private property," he said.

Khaled also said, so far the state government has no plans to develop the area which is located near the torist attraction Danga Bay.

Mayor of Johor Bahru Ismail Karim confirmed that the mansion built on 2.6 hectar of land belonged to Low Sue Heng, whose address is in Singapore and is free of tax arrears.

"We have sent a notice to the owner asking him to clean the place and he will be compounded if he fails to adhere to it," he said.
