PUTRAJAYA: The Attorney-General's Chambers will proceed with the case against restaurant manager Riduan Masmud, whose rape charge was dropped after the 13-year-old victim withdrew the report in Sabah.
Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail said they were collecting more evidence, including the DNA report.
"We have never dropped the charge against him.
"I have directed my officers to gather more evidence and we will proceed with the case," he told reporters here on Wednesday.
Gani said he had also asked the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to investigate the claim by the 13-year-old victim's father that the accused had paid him RM5,000 as compensation, which was handed down by the state's "Mahkamah Adat".
Riduan shocked the nation after being charged with raping a minor and later declared that he had married her.
